Our class was discussing the Olympics and Paralympics. "Mr. Steve" came in to visit with us about his prostheses. The students really enjoyed learning about what Mr. Steve has experienced. He shared all about the reason for his amputation and the process to heal and learn to use his new lower leg. The class wanted to know how long he healed after the surgery, (three months) and how quicky he learned to walk (right away). A student enthusiastically commented that he didn't know what a leg looked like without a foot! They were able to handle and observe one of Mr. Steve's extra legs. The information was very well presented and received. We love Mr. Steve because he's positive, fun, interesting and cool. -Ms. Barbie
