🌟 Tiger Teacher Spotlight: Susan Watts 🌟

We’re continuing our Tiger Teacher Spotlight series with someone who brings a lot of heart to her classroom—Mrs. Watts, our 1st grade teacher!

With 9 years of teaching experience and 16 years working in education, Mrs. Watts says her ultimate inspiration for becoming a teacher was simple: “I wanted to make a difference in the lives of children.” ❤️

Her classroom is happy, respectful, and organized, and what she hopes every student gains from their year with her is one very important thing: confidence.

Outside of school, Mrs. Watts loves being outdoors, walking, playing sports, cooking, quoting movies, and spending time with her husband and family. And when it comes to snacks? She's a fan of dark chocolate-covered nuts! 🍫

Her advice for students this year: “Look, listen and learn.” 📚

We’re grateful to have Mrs. Watts helping our little Tigers learn, grow, and believe in themselves! 🐯💙💛

Picture Day is tomorrow

We wanted to provide a quick update regarding the odor reported this morning.

Southwest Gas has completed its testing and determined that there is not a natural gas leak. The contractors who have been working in the area are continuing to investigate the source of the odor.

Our K–2 students have returned to their classrooms and are continuing their school day as usual.

3 days ago, St. David Schools

This morning, we noticed an odor in our K–2 classrooms that may be associated with natural gas. Out of an abundance of caution, we temporarily moved our K–2 students to other areas of campus while the situation is being investigated.

Our Maintenance Department is checking the area, and Southwest Gas is on its way to inspect the building. Since contractors were working in the area yesterday, they are also returning to inspect their work.

Our students are safe and supervised, and we are taking these precautionary steps to ensure a safe environment for everyone. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide an update if any further action is needed.

We wanted to keep you informed and appreciate your understanding.

Thank you,
St. David Unified School District

Healthy Schools Act Shopping Guide
Dear St. David Parents,

What a wonderful first week of school! We are truly honored to have your children with us and are excited for the incredible year ahead. Our goal this year is to continue the proud legacy of Tiger Pride, and this first week has been a fantastic beginning.

Throughout the week, our campus has been filled with smiles as students have been learning new routines and settling into their classrooms. Our high school students were also introduced to our new House System, which is designed to build school unity, encourage positive competition, and strengthen Tiger pride.

Our teachers have worked incredibly hard to get to know each of their students, and we have been so impressed with the positive attitudes, enthusiasm, and behavior our students have shown. We couldn't be more pleased with the way they have returned to school and embraced the new year.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. This week was a great start, and we look forward to many more successful weeks together.

Go Tigers!

Beginning today, we are making a small change to the order students are lined up during parent pick-up. Kindergarten students will now be at the west end of the 1938 Building, with the remaining grade levels following behind them in order.

Please continue to pull all the way forward past the flagpole when entering the pick-up lane so we can load multiple vehicles at the same time.

Thank you for helping us get every student home safely and efficiently!

🧪 Laughter, curiosity, and a love of science... that's what students can expect in today's Tiger Teacher Spotlight!

Meet Mrs. Holly Hennessy, our 7th, 8th, and 9th Grade Science teacher! For the past 7 years, she's been inspiring students with engaging lessons, high expectations, and a classroom where learning is always an adventure.

🍎 What inspired her to teach?
Mrs. Hennessy credits her own 6th grade teacher, Mrs. Hamilton, with inspiring her to become an educator.

😄 Fun Fact:
She once found herself arrested in Siberia, Russia, and says an American soap opera kept her from going to the gulag! (You'll have to ask her for the full story!)

📚 Outside the classroom:
When she's not teaching science, you'll find her reading, quilting, playing MTG (Magic: The Gathering), or prank calling Mr. Brogan. 😄

🌟 Her goal for students:
She hopes every student leaves her class with responsibility, pride in their work, and a sense of fun.

🔬 Three words to describe her classroom?
"Fun, fun, and more fun." (Her words... and yes, she knows that's more than three! 😄)

💬 Advice for students:
"Come prepared."

🎉 Just for fun...
🍿 Sweet or Salty? Salty (especially if popcorn and Diet Coke count!)
⛰️ Beach or Mountains? Mountains

Mrs. Hennessy's enthusiasm, humor, and passion for science make learning memorable for her students. We're lucky to have her as part of our Tiger family! 💙💛
