Thanksgiving Holiday

There is no school on Wednesday, November 23 and on Thursday, November 24 for the Thanksgiving holiday. School resumes on Monday, November 28. You may refer to the school calendar on our District Activity Calendar page for all breaks, holidays, and early release days.

Looking ahead at student transportation for Monday, November 28: Our morning bus routes will be as usual with the exception of delays caused by the river bridge construction. The afternoon bus routes will use our alternative/combined schedule.

Happy Thanksgiving! We hope you have a safe holiday filled with family time and rest.

Christmas Music Program

We invite families and community members to our all-school Christmas music program on Monday, December 5 at 5:30 p.m. in the high school gym. Kindergarten through 5th grade students will sing first, followed by an intermission, then our 6th through 12th grade band and choir will perform.

SSVEC Competition
SSVEC competition finalists holding their awards

On November 16, three juniors from St. David High School competed for the next SSVEC Washington Youth Tour. Sammy Judd, Anissa Jacquez and Seren Torres worked diligently on their project essays for the SSVEC competition, and studied hard for the two tests. The most grueling part was the interview. Sammy said it was a piece of cake, but other students said it was tough! The students are in the running for an SSVEC-sponsored scholarship, and all three will go to Washington, D.C. this summer for the Youth Tour! We will help runners-up Seren and Anissa raise money for their trip. Sammy's is completely paid for as he won first place! Congratulations!

Weight Room

The school weight room is open to the community on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Please contact Coach Barker with questions.

Annual Achievement Profile Ratings

Arizona Revised Statutes § 15-241 requires the Arizona Department of Education develop an annual achievement profile for every public school in the state based on an A through F scale. The system measures year to year student academic growth, proficiency on English language arts, math and science, the proficiency and academic growth of English language learners, indicators that an elementary student is ready for success in high school and that high school students are ready to succeed in a career or higher education, and high school graduation rates.

The Arizona State Board of Education recently released the 2021–2022 A through F school letter grades for all public schools statewide. We are proud to announce that St. David Elementary School (K–8) received a B rating and St. David High School received an A rating. Our high school was also the top scoring high school in Cochise County!

Principal Andrew Brogan said to staff members, “This is due to all of your hard work and dedication. I just wanted to express my gratitude and let you all know I am very proud of you and what we accomplished.” Teacher Jean Weisling added, “It is definitely a team effort and starts with the top.” We recognize that district growth is a reflection of the collaborative efforts of teachers, administrators, staff, families, and partners who work hard each and every day to support our students. Thank you!

Campus Improvements - October 2022 through June 2023

Our campus will soon receive some much-needed work. These improvements include the replacement of most of our roofs, painting the exterior, and general weatherization of our buildings. With this will come many contractors that will be on campus starting October 14, 2022 through June 30, 2023. The painters expect to work on evenings and weekends during this time. We do not know the roofers’ project hours as of yet.

There will be projects where no one can be on campus due to the nature of the materials used. For the safety of everyone, we ask that you refrain from spending extra time on campus outside of our regular business hours. If this presents an issue on a particular day, please contact the office. We also ask that students not hang around after 3:30 p.m. except for supervised student activities in designated areas. We ask if you know someone who comes to the campus on the weekends bringing their kids to the playgrounds or sports fields, to let them know the campus is closed. If they are here, we may ask them to leave. We will post signs.

If there are any concerns about the project, please contact Maintenance Director Zac Harrison.
