🫀🧠🦴 Human Body Unit Wrap-Up! 💀
Last year, I started doing a fun wrap-up day at the end of our Human Body Unit, and this year I was able to expand it even more with the help of some amazing parent volunteers. It was such a HUGE success, and I just had to share it! ❤️
😷 We dressed up as doctors and examined Barry Bones (our class skeleton), listened to each other’s heartbeats, and gave check-ups to our favorite stuffed animals.
🫁 We created our own human bodies, complete with all the major organs.
🩻 We made a 1st-grade-sized, full-body skeleton!
🧠 We created the nervous system using Play-Doh brains and pipe-cleaner nerves.
🪥🦷 We learned how to properly care for our teeth, and each child received a toothbrush and toothpaste, thanks to Colgate!
🦴 We played Operation and practiced our skills while having lots of fun.
💀 We used our fine motor skills to see how high we could stack eyeballs and skulls!
I absolutely LOVE seeing how excited the kids get when learning about the human body. If you see my students, ask them about bones, muscles, the digestive system, or the nervous system… but be prepared, because they may never stop talking about it! 😂❤️

Just a reminder that tomorrow, Thursday, October 8, is a half day of school for Parent-Teacher Conferences.
🚌 Buses will run at 12:30 p.m.
There will be no school next week, October 12–15, for Fall Break.

Our Wellness Committee is working on creating a more comfortable and inviting space where St. David staff can take a break, recharge, and enjoy a little downtime during the school day.
We’re looking for a comfortable sofa in good condition to help get the project started! If you have a sofa you’d like to donate, please contact the school office.

One of our school buses was involved in a minor accident today. The bus was rear-ended by another vehicle, and the accident was not the fault of our bus driver. Thankfully, all students, staff, and our bus driver are okay. We wanted to make sure our families were aware and reassured that everyone is safe.
Middle school boys basketball open gym today at 2pm. Season will officially start October 19. Please have paperwork & fees completed in the office prior to fall break. Communication will go through the GroupMe app throughout the season. Please email Coach Seth at seth.wilson@stdavid.org with your phone number to get added.

We’re excited to celebrate five St. David teachers who received Teacher Microgrants from the SSVEC Foundation! 🎉These grants will help bring some great ideas to life in our classrooms and programs:
🐯 Samantha Langlois – HS History: Interactive History Experiences
🐯 Serena Brown – Drama: Theatre program projects and materials
🐯 Jennie Polson – Kindergarten: Listening center
🐯 Celi Martin – Elementary Special Education: Flexible seating and sensory processing tools
🐯 Deja Tracey – American Sign Language: Video equipment for students to record, evaluate and track their progress, along with games for language practice and review
The SSVEC Foundation distributed Teacher Microgrants to 178 local teachers this year, providing up to $999 each to support education projects throughout the SSVEC service area.

Our next Blood Drive is coming up on Wednesday, October 7, from 1–5 PM, and we need your help!
We currently have only 14 donors scheduled, but at our most successful blood drive, our St. David community came together to donate 49 pints. This time, our HOSA team has set a new goal of 61 units, and we’d love to see our community come together to reach it!
St. David Tigers have hosted more than 28 blood drives, and our community has continued to make a tremendous impact. Now we're asking you to help us go even further.

Did you know that all St. David students can receive free breakfast and lunch at school every day?
Our school provides free meals to every student, Kindergarten through 12th grade, with no application, paperwork, or income verification required. Every student is eligible!
This is a wonderful benefit for our families and one we want to make sure everyone knows about. If your child has been bringing a lunch from home or skipping breakfast at school, please know that they are welcome to enjoy a free school meal instead.
We encourage families to take advantage of this opportunity. It’s one less thing to worry about when getting kids ready for school each day!

🌟 Congratulations, CTE Student of the Month - Addison Merrill!!🌟
When a new freshman was having trouble finding her way around our campus, Addison, a senior in the Early Childhood program, stepped in to help. She got a school map, helped color-code and number the freshman’s classes, and then walked her around campus to show her where each class was.
Mrs. Weisling was especially impressed by the patience and kindness she showed. When thanked for helping, Addison simply said it was “no big deal.”
But it was. ❤️
She was already practicing what she is learning about working with and caring for others, and showing the kind of leadership we love to see in our Tigers.
