Dear K–8 Parents and Guardians,

At our most recent school board meeting to be in compliance with state law bill 2484 signed by the governor, a new policy was approved that affects the possession and use of communication devices (such as cell phones and smartwatches) for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. We are writing to inform you of this important change and ask for your support as we implement it.

Effective immediately, all communication devices are banned from use during the school day, including passing periods, recess, and lunch. Students may bring a device to school, but it must be stored and not used from arrival to dismissal.

Key points of the policy:

·  K–5 Students: Devices must be stored in cubbies upon arrival and remain there until dismissal.

·  6–8 Students: Devices must be kept in lockers assigned to them and locked away for the entire school day.

·  Enforcement: If a student is seen using a device at any time during the school day, including during recess or passing periods, the device will be confiscated by a staff member. The parent or guardian will need to retrieve the device from the school office.

Communication with your child:
If you need to contact your child during the school day, please call the front office. We will make sure your message is delivered promptly or transfer the call if necessary.

This policy is being put in place to help improve student focus, reduce conflicts on campus, and foster a more productive learning environment. We strongly believe that limiting device use during the school day will support better academic outcomes and healthier social interactions.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support as we work together to create the best possible environment for all of our students.

If you have any questions or concerns about this policy, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the school administration.

Sincerely,

Andrew Brogan, Principal
