Exciting News from Our English Classes

After completing a unit on poetry, our seventh and eighth grade students each wrote an original poem. The students orally read their poems to the class. We submitted 19 poems to the Creative Communication Writers contest, and they chose14 of the poems for publishing. The following students wrote the poems that will be published:

On a separate note, our congratulations to sixth grader Merie Bright who won second place in the Benson News-Sun contest writing competition, “Heroes!” The Our Town section of the newspaper featured her essay and picture. Congratulations!

Just a proud moment for one of our very own— Jimmy Vincent (11th grade), received 3rd place in the Tucson Poetry Festival contest. He was one of 307 entrants for the contest.

Our congratulations to SSVEC winners Heidi Kartchner, Kylee Brubaker, and Rachael Larson. They will now travel to Washington, DC this summer.

DECA competed in the Southern Arizona Regional Conference on Wednesday, January 13, 2010. Congratulations to Jessica Vincent, Kylee Brubaker, Sheradee Lee, Kyle McMinimy, Ashton Mayberry, and Rachael Larson who all won medals.
